The Singing School is excited to announce auditions for the magical musical production of Willy Wonka Jr.!
Willy Wonka Jr. is a tale about a poor boy named Charlie who wins a golden ticket to tour the magical and eccentric Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, where he and other children face curious challenges that test their character. The story explores themes of greed, kindness, and imagination in a fantastical setting.
We are seeking talented performers (singers, actors, dancers) to bring the whimsical world of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory to life. Don't miss your chance to be a part of this incredible adventure!
**Audition Details:**

**Audition Process**
(What it would look like during the audition)
1. Group: Learn a group dance choreography. (30 mins)
2. Group: Sing a minimum of one, or maximum of two of the numbers included in the casting folder by yourself. (45 mins)
3. Group: Reading of the characters. (30 mins)
4. Individual: Short Interview (5 mins each)

**Audition Guidelines**
(What to prepare / How to audition)
1. Practice the parts for at least 2 characters from "Willy Wonka Jr" of your choice:
i. Prepare 2 reading parts.
ii. Prepare 2 singing parts.
2. Be ready to explain why you would like to be in the musical, and what your chosen role(s) mean to you.
​Depending on time, we may not be able to listen to all the songs that everyone has practiced, but being fully prepared is an important part of the musical theatre training and will ensure that you will have the best audition possible!
**Character Breakdown:**
1. Willy Wonka - The self-described "greatest candy maker of all time."
2. Charlie Bucket - A poor but honest boy sharing a cramped home with his parents and grandparents.
3. Grandpa Joe - Charlie's loving grandfather who accompanies Charlie to the factory.
4. Augustus Gloop - A golden ticket winner who consumes an enormous amount of food everyday.
5. Veruca Salt - The spoiled daughter of a rich factory owner.
6. Violet Beauregarde - A rude girl who is obsessed with chewing gum.
7. Mike Teavee - A boy who cares only about electronics.
8. And many more exciting roles!
**How to Sign Up:**
To secure your audition slot, please register by February 10th, 2025. Walk-ins are also welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged.

**Additional Information:**
- The Singing School will provide piano accompaniment and backing tracks for auditions.
- Performers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to audition.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled audition time for check-in and warm-up.
- Rehearsals will be held either on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturdays from 11:15am to 1:15pm. If you are available for both days, please indicate so in the audition form, as it may improve your chances of being selected for your preferred role.
- All performers must be fully committed to the production. Only one leave of absence is permitted during main cast rehearsals.
- Certain characters may be required to attend additional group dance sessions.
- Dress Rehearsals are on June 13th and June 20th and are absolutely mandatory. Show day is on June 21st.
- This is a school production with serious staging and lighting! If selected for a leading role or supporting character, performers agree to a one-time fee to cover main cast rehearsals, costumes, book fees, and other expenses related to their role. This fee is charged upfront and may be determined by the role you are cast in.
- In situations where multiple auditionees are suitable for a role, there may be callback auditions held.
- If assigned a character, performers must sign the performer’s contract within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in the role being offered to another performer.
- Casting announcements will be made public on February 26th.
